Dr Lawson has the unique qualification of being a Registered Chiropractor and Certified Sports Physician. He is the current Chair of the International Sporting Federations Commission for the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS);is the founding member and past President of Chirosport SA; he served two terms as President of the Chiropractic Association of South Arica (CASA);he is a Past President Emeritus of CASA and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractors (Sport).
Dr Lawson graduated as a Chiropractor from Technikon Witwatersrand in 1999 before leaving SA to further his experience and knowledge in the UK where he spent 7 years working in numerous Chiropractic and Sports Injury Centres. He completed his International Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician’s diploma in 1999.
Whilst in the UK, Dr Lawson completed his MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Nottingham University, whilst working for Derby County Cricket Club, the English Cricket Board, UK Athletics and the British Master’s Athletics Federation.
Dr Lawson returned to South Africa in 2005 and is the current owner of Morningside Chiropractic and Sports Injury Centre. His team of Chiropractors are also members of the multi-discipline and state of the art Wanderers Sports Medicine Centre in the Wanderers Bullring Stadium.
Dr Lawson is currently the Chair of the International Federations Commission for the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS). He sits on a number of National and International, Professional and Inter-professional commissions and executive committee’s. He is a member of the International Federation of Sports Chiropractors (FICS) and is an Executive Council member of the South African Sports Medicine Association (SASMA).
He was a senior lecturer for 9 years in the Chiropractic Department at the University of Johannesburg. He continues to be actively involved with the students and is regularly invited to present at National and International Chiropractic and Sports Medicine Conferences and Sports Chiropractic workshops. He has been fortunate enough to be a member of the FICS delegation working at four World Games.
Personally, Dr Lawson has competed in Iron Man triathlons, Ultra distance marathons, the Otter trail run, The Cape Epic, Joberg2C, played provincial hockey and has represented Triathlon SA at two World Championships.
Dr Lawson is passionate about Chiropractic and Sports Medicine. With his wealth of experience treating individual athletes, sports teams and working at International sporting events, he is committed to helping athletes (from professionals to weekend warriors) to achieve their goals, injury free and to the best of their capability! Enhancing their performances and achieving their personal bests!
